El Hijo de la Cumbia is the name taken by Emiliano Gmez - the DJ and producer who hails from th Buenos Aires suburb of San Martn. Most of you know cumbia as the traditional sounds that come booming out of the speakers at holiday parties. Gmez turns it up a notch, stripping the sound down to it’s barest, rollicking rhythm and adding an array of dubbed-out effects, turntable tricks, and otherworldly sounds.
